Job Description
Data Technician registering and processing 3D laser-scanning point clouds for GPRS, a provider of underground utility detection and built-environment scanning. Supporting mapping teams, project managers, and clients with accurate post-processing and project delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Receive 3D laser scanning raw data from field capture
- Register and process laser scanning point clouds into robust, dimensionally precise, easy-to-use data sets
- Use point cloud software to register raw scan data into usable point clouds
- Perform QA/QC on point cloud registrations for accuracy and precision
- Align point clouds to specific coordinates or existing client models
- Assist the Mapping and Modeling team through post-processing stages
- Engage with project managers and clients throughout projects
- Ensure on-time completion, quality, and client satisfaction
- Communicate project and client status and expectations internally and externally
- Keep company ERP systems updated with project information and status
- Research industry trends and competition
- Maintain an up-to-date electronic schedule/calendar
- Work independently and collaboratively on projects
Requirements:
- High School Diploma required
- Ability to read blueprints and architectural drawings
- Strong computer literacy and comfort with various software and tools
- Systematic approach to tasks and projects
- Keen attention to detail
- Strong technical skills and aptitude for understanding complex systems
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
- Independent responsibility for tasks and projects
- Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively and seek help when needed
- Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred
- Advanced knowledge of Autodesk and Leica products preferred
- Experience with laser scanning and/or processing scan data preferred
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and construction methods preferred
