Job Description

DevOps Engineer III building secure, scalable cloud platforms for ARUP Laboratories’ clinical genomics systems. Automating releases, infrastructure, configuration management, and developer workflows across high-throughput diagnostic applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver innovative products and services enabling development teams to serve customers across physical, digital, and cloud platforms
  • Engineer a secure, scalable, and highly available platform providing services and frameworks to developers
  • Own, automate, and troubleshoot production releases for Biocomputing solutions
  • Implement Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, and DevOps practices in legacy environments
  • Research, test, and pilot a reusable metrics collection system
  • Define, select, implement, and support a configuration management system while phasing out the legacy system
  • Work closely with development staff and train them on proprietary information protection
  • Prototype reusable patterns and tools and coach developers on best practices
  • Deconstruct an old file store using an approved solution without impacting customers
  • Anticipate issues before they affect infrastructure or customers
  • Provide build and deployment support to multiple projects
  • Align configuration management practices with organizational and industry compliance standards
  • Assist with versioning and archiving software artifacts and validation documentation in AWS/S3/Glacier
  • Automate manual activities in accordance with DevOps principles
  • Define and implement cloud platform security practices
  • Define, implement, and support required certificates
  • Perform setup, configuration, and administration of Git, Splunk, binary repositories, Windows, and Linux systems
  • Support infrastructure automation using SaltStack and Ansible
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field
  • Five (5) years of experience in DevOps, systems administration, or a relevant technical role
  • Five (5) years of experience with many of: Windows/Linux administration, AWS and AWSCLI, SaltStack, Docker, MS SQL, MongoDB, RabbitMQ, and Splunk
  • Advanced expertise with shell scripting
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows/Linux systems administration
  • Scripting experience in multiple languages
  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as SaltStack and Ansible
  • Experience setting up, configuring, and administering Git and Splunk
  • Experience setting up, configuring, and administering binary repositories
  • Ability to define and implement industry-standard cloud platform security practices
  • Ability to define, implement, and support required certificates
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex infrastructure projects with minimal supervision
  • Ability to explain technical ideas and concepts simply and effectively to non-developers
  • Ability to work well with groups inside and outside the defined team
  • Ability to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office
  • Ability to use personal protective equipment in a biohazard laboratory environment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies
