Job Description
DevRel Engineer creating engaging developer content for dotCMS's cloud-based platform. Bridging the gap with the developer community through tutorials, demos, and discussions.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a strong public presence across platforms like LinkedIn, GitHub, and developer forums.
- Produce content that includes documentation, blogs, screencasts, walkthroughs, and short-form dev-focused social media content.
- Create developer content across our core areas: headless and visual editing (UVE), AI-driven developer workflows (dotAI, MCP), and emerging search (GEO)
- Experience creating technical content, videos, blogs, tutorials and how-to guides, developer relations articles, and other content for technical user and non-technical user audiences in dotCMS
- Coordinate and participate in programming events, developer webinars, and online community engagement.
- Grow the dotCMS developer community through proactive content and engagement across the Community Forum, GitHub, and social — not just moderation.
- Perform in-depth technical research and stay up to date with emerging technologies to inform content and community strategy.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Design, Product & Marketing to ensure documentation aligns with platform updates and developer needs.
- Provide technical feedback to product and engineering teams based on community interactions.
- Own the developer-facing content cadence and community-growth metrics; report against baselines and targets.
Requirements:
- 3 to 4 years of hands-on coding experience in Frontend JavaScript (React, Angular, or Next.js preferred); comfortable reading and writing code.
- Comfortable building against REST/GraphQL APIs, auth flows, and SDK integration — not just consuming them.
- Java familiarity a plus (dotCMS is Java-based).
- Solid grasp of documentation tools, content management systems, and/or marketing technology.
- Previous experience in technical writing, preferably in a SaaS, devtool, or CMS environment.
- Comfortable on camera and with public speaking—this role involves livestreaming, video creation, and community-facing events.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to simplify complex concepts for varied audiences.
- Active GitHub profile and/or social media presence that reflects involvement in dev communities or projects.
- Curious, proactive, and self-driven with a “builder” mindset.
- A strong sense of curiosity, a love of learning, and a willingness to roll up their sleeves and experiment.
- The courage to ask supposedly “stupid questions” is underrated!
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or relevant to the field
Benefits:
- PTO policy (after the first 90 days in the company)
- Generous number of local company-paid holidays
- Annual company-paid training and development
