Responsibilities:
- Build and shape the Developer Experience capability within Foundation Engineering
- Replace shared, slow-to-provision environments with on-demand ephemeral environments
- Solve realistic multi-tenant test data seeding
- Reduce local build and test times
- Establish documented golden paths for building, testing, and running services
- Enable artifact-once builds and promotion across environments
- Build a trusted feature flag system that separates deployment from release
- Make dependency scanning, secrets detection, and static analysis default steps on every build
- Consolidate teams onto a common CI pipeline and evaluate when to adopt existing tools
- Write AWS infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code for tooling and environments
- Work alongside cloud engineers who own the production footprint
- Carry the pager for infrastructure and tooling built by the role
- Develop capabilities for AI-assisted engineering, including deterministic builds, fast test feedback, sandboxed execution, review gates for agent-authored changes, and MCP platform capabilities
- Report to the Engineering Manager for Developer Experience
- Define direction for developer environments and infrastructure-as-code
- Contribute to production work alongside cloud engineers
Requirements:
- Production AWS infrastructure expressed as code using Terraform, CDK, Pulumi, or CloudFormation
- Hands-on configuration of networking, IAM, and container workloads
- Experience carrying a pager for infrastructure relied on by other engineers
- Experience building or substantially rebuilding a CI/CD system used by other engineers
- Ability to explain what a CI/CD system improved and how the improvement was measured
- Experience making a real system runnable outside production, such as ephemeral environments, multi-tenant test data, or containerized local development
- Experience writing a tool or service used daily by other engineers
- Experience building software for engineers outside one's own team
- Ability to discuss both successful adoption and failed adoption of an engineering product
- Experience using AI in engineering work and helping other engineers adopt AI with appropriate human review
- Preferred: feature flag platforms and progressive delivery
- Preferred: Kubernetes or ECS at production scale
- Preferred: OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, or structured logging, especially for sensitive data
- Preferred: HIPAA-regulated or other compliance-sensitive environments
- Preferred: Bitbucket Pipelines, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions
- Preferred: test automation frameworks or contract testing in an event-driven system
- Preferred: building alongside a legacy platform during migration
- Preferred: Node and TypeScript, internal developer portals, or MCP servers
