Job Description
Leading a 6-person MSL team while engaging with Key Opinion Leaders in the field at AbbVie. Overseeing scientific quality and ensuring strategic execution in Plastics & Regenerative Medicine.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, strategic direction, and day-to-day operational management of a 6-person MSL team
- Maintain an active field presence as the primary MSL for a dedicated territory
- Ensure the team is adequately staffed, trained, and clear on their roles in executing medical plans
- Execute all MSL activities ensuring high-quality scientific engagements with external experts and HCPs
- Establish a productive work environment by creating trust and respect within the MSL team
- Conduct regular field co-rides and 1:1s with direct reports for coaching and feedback
- Oversee operational logistics and manage day-to-day administrative team duties
- Drive recruitment activities for new MSLs and ensure on-boarding and training
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure integrated medical activities
Requirements:
- Advanced degree in health sciences or clinical discipline required
- Minimum of 5 years clinical, scientific/research, or pharma industry related experience or equivalent
- At least 2 of those years as an MSL
- Prior line management experience of a field-based MSL team strongly preferred
- Excellent written and spoken communication and presentation skills (local language and English preferred)
- Proven success in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively cross functionally.
- Experience managing and resolving challenging personnel issues.
- Ability to travel regularly (approximately 50–60%) to support both direct territory KOL engagement and team co-rides/coaching activities across the 6-person MSL team's geography.
- Experience with OR/surgical suite environments and familiarity with credentialing and OR certification processes strongly preferred.
