Job Description
Director of Advocacy shaping federal healthcare policy for Pivotal Health’s reimbursement platform. Engaging agencies, Congress, and healthcare stakeholders while building strategic government affairs operations.
Responsibilities:
- Own and coordinate Pivotal Health’s government affairs workstreams, including leading calls, setting agendas, assigning follow-ups, and tracking completion of commitments
- Engage directly with federal agencies, including HHS, CMS, and DOL, members of Congress, and congressional staff on healthcare programs and policy
- Read and synthesize economic, epidemiological, and other healthcare research; identify key findings and weaknesses; assess competing analyses; identify research opportunities; and initiate research projects
- Develop clear points of view on policy issues and advocate for them by persuading stakeholders and making the case for change
- Help shift Pivotal Health’s government affairs function from reactive work toward proactive, strategic engagement
- Lead calls and coordinate with doctors, lawyers, CEOs, CFOs, and other stakeholders in group settings
- Partner with the General Counsel & Chief Government Affairs Officer, internal colleagues, and external government affairs and publicity professionals to build the function’s processes and priorities
Requirements:
- 5–7 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or a related field
- Federal-level government affairs or public policy experience, including direct work with federal agencies and healthcare policy
- Direct experience engaging members of Congress or congressional staff
- Track record of developing and advocating for a clear point of view
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with comfort leading meetings across varied seniority levels
- Ability to read, evaluate, and compare the strength of economic and epidemiological research
- Comfort operating with ambiguity, building structure and process from a blank slate, and taking on hands-on tactical work alongside strategic thinking
- Experience with the No Surprises Act or the IDR process is nice to have
- Experience involving HHS, CMS, Medicare, or Medicaid is nice to have
- Prior lobbying experience is nice to have
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship
