Job Description

Energy Efficiency Engineer leading virtual commissioning and strategic energy management programs for Power TakeOff’s utility energy-efficiency software. Advising commercial and industrial customers on HVAC controls and low-cost savings.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as technical lead for Power TakeOff’s Virtual Commissioning (VCx) and Virtual Strategic Energy Management (vSEM) programs
  • Provide technical support for new energy management initiatives
  • Serve as a central knowledge expert for HVAC, controls, and energy efficiency best practices
  • Advise customers at large commercial, institutional, and manufacturing sites on optimal controls and low/no-cost energy efficiency opportunities
  • Work with Energy Advisors and vSEM coaches to analyze interval energy usage data and identify key energy-use drivers
  • Discover low- and no-cost energy savings measures during virtual consultations with commercial and industrial customers
  • Help vSEM coaches develop technical material for ongoing workshops
  • Research and document internal technical resources and best practices
  • Monitor Energy Advisor performance and collaborate with the Technical Team manager to identify training and professional development needs
  • Partner with the internal Measurement and Verification team to evaluate and communicate performance results
  • Assist Energy Advisors and vSEM Coaches with resolving technical customer issues
  • Complete training and develop additional technical skills for contribution to programs beyond VCx and vSEM
  • Report to the Senior Energy Efficiency Engineering Manager within the Portfolio Management team

Requirements:

  • PE (US) or P. Eng. License, or engineer-in-training status from an accredited engineering program
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of experience in energy advising, utility DSM program delivery, or SEM coaching for large commercial facilities or institutions/campuses
  • Experience implementing energy efficiency solutions related to HVAC design, HVAC management, or BAS controls programming
  • Technical knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, including HVAC, controls, and lighting
  • Strongly preferred: substantial knowledge of industrial/manufacturing facility operations
  • Preferred: on-site field experience at industrial facilities and experience with BASs for commercial or institutional buildings
  • Excellent facilitation and communication abilities for presenting technical material to non-technical audiences
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with data interpretation
  • Exceptional project management skills
  • Working proficiency with Salesforce or similar CRM tools
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science preferred
  • CEM, CxA, BCxP, CPE, or equivalent certification preferred
  • Interest and passion for energy efficiency consulting and making a positive difference
  • Comfort working independently in a 100% virtual environment
