Job Description
Engineering Manager leading Gcore’s global CDN, DNS, traffic management, and edge infrastructure teams. Owning delivery, incidents, technical priorities, and engineering development for a global platform.
Responsibilities:
- Lead four engineering teams covering the control plane, core edge and proxy layer, analytics and logging platform, and DNS and traffic management
- Own delivery on a two-week cadence, including planning, commitments, and reporting on shipped work
- Set and defend technical priorities with Product, Support, and Maintenance
- Decide which work the teams will not undertake each quarter
- Own incident and post-incident processes, including severity calls, root-cause analysis, and prevention work
- Run the on-call rotation and maintain a clear escalation path
- Develop engineers and tech leads through one-to-ones, feedback, and growth planning
- Hire effectively when headcount is available
- Improve planning, prioritisation, quality standards, documentation, and service ownership
- Ensure AI tools and approaches are adopted
- Oversee work involving cache and shielding behaviour, configuration delivery at scale, ClickHouse analytics performance and cost, traffic steering and failover, and customer-impact observability
Requirements:
- Four or more years leading software engineering teams, including experience managing tech leads
- Production experience with internet infrastructure: CDN, DNS, reverse proxies, or large-scale distributed systems
- Enough depth to reason independently about HTTP caching, nginx behaviour, TLS and SNI, and anycast routing
- A track record of owning incident response and post-incident follow-through, not just attending the calls
- Comfort running several teams at once, and the confidence to say no to a stakeholder with a clear reason
- Experience with distributed teams spanning European and Asian working hours
- Nice to have: C, Rust, Go, or Python at a level where you can review a change
- Nice to have: Prometheus, Grafana, ClickHouse, and distributed tracing
- Nice to have: Kubernetes alongside bare-metal fleet operations
- Nice to have: Experience at a CDN, DNS, or cloud provider, or at a network operator
- Nice to have: Experience acting as product owner for platform work
Benefits:
- Competitive compensation
- Flexible working hours and hybrid or remote options, depending on your role
- Work from anywhere in the world for up to 45 days per year
- Private medical insurance for you and your family*
- Extra paid vacation and sick leave days*
- Support for life’s important moments and celebrations
- Language courses to help you connect and grow
- Modern, welcoming offices with snacks, drinks, and entertainment*
- Team sports and social activities*
