Job Description
Engineering Manager building AI developer infrastructure and productivity tools at Airbnb. Leading strategy, mentoring engineers, and enabling internal AI-powered software development.
Responsibilities:
- Shape and drive the AI for Developers strategy
- Partner with Staff and Sr. Staff engineers on architecture trade-offs and product direction
- Stay current on the evolving AI tooling landscape and balance innovation with measurable developer impact
- Champion, coach, and consult with teams and leaders across the company on adopting new AI capabilities
- Foster relationships with partner teams and stakeholders and craft working agreements
- Coach and mentor the team with empathy
- Contribute to the broader organization’s culture and processes
- Build foundational AI tooling and infrastructure for developer productivity, including agentic coding tools, asynchronous AI workflow platforms, SDKs for internal AI app development, and AI-assisted code migration
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience as a full-time manager
- Experience supporting and coaching Staff+ and Senior engineers
- Experience managing a remote/distributed team
- Prior experience building developer infrastructure, tooling, or platforms, ideally at scale and with tools, frameworks, or systems commonly used in the industry
- Experience applying AI technologies to real-world software development challenges
- Track record of quickly ramping up in new domains, technologies, or languages
- Demonstrated success partnering cross-functionally
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity
