Job Description
Engineering Manager leading Airbnb’s AI-driven platform for host supply growth. Building scalable systems, guiding engineers, and aligning global Trust & Safety initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team
- Foster technical excellence, innovation, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement
- Build scalable, reliable, and impactful systems driving Airbnb’s growth
- Define and execute technical strategy for trust and safety initiatives
- Develop an AI-driven growth platform supporting supply expansion, sales insights, diverse supply needs, existing host success, and high-quality host acquisition
- Partner with product, data science, design, business, and engineering teams on long-term technical vision, strategy, and roadmap
- Represent the team with global leadership
- Hire, mentor, and lead engineers
- Lead end-to-end project execution across the software development lifecycle
- Communicate project status, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership and partners
- Champion reliability, scalability, incident response, and operational readiness
- Stay current on Trust & Safety trends and drive best-practice adoption
- Align India team initiatives with broader global Trust & Safety goals
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- Overall 10+ years of industry experience, including 2–5+ years in engineering management
- Proven track record of delivering large-scale, secure, and reliable systems
- Strong experience in leading technical strategy and building scalable engineering, data, or machine learning systems
- Expertise in leading AI/ML teams and delivering AI-powered solutions is a strong plus
- Proficiency in at least one major language, such as Java, Python, Go, or Ruby
- Demonstrated ability to hire and retain top-tier engineering talent
- Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience setting multi-year strategies and aligning diverse stakeholders
- Background working in fast-paced, agile environments with cross-functional teams
- Passion for trust, safety, and positive social impact
- Strong commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within teams
