Job Description

Engineering Manager leading Personify Health's PercyIQ AI-powered healthcare search and conversational experiences. Managing engineering teams, production reliability, safety guardrails, and regulated health-data integrations.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the AI Feature team responsible for PercyIQ, Personify Health's AI-powered discovery and conversation experiences
  • Own delivery of AI/RAG-powered search and discovery across Web, iOS, and Android, including agent orchestration, knowledge base ingestion, and result ranking/personalization
  • Lead go-live readiness, capstone testing, pilot monitoring, load testing, production alerting, and runbooks for AI-driven features
  • Direct analytics infrastructure for measuring and reporting AI feature usage
  • Guide AI guardrails and evaluators for clinically appropriate, on-brand, trusted responses, including crisis/emergency detection and routing
  • Oversee PHI/PII protection, including masking sensitive health identifiers before storage
  • Drive translation and localization support for non-English-speaking members
  • Lead technical design and delivery of conversational AI experiences and quality/safety management frameworks
  • Own integrations for benefits and clinical chat use cases and handoffs between AI chat and human support channels
  • Own the AI-powered member support chatbot, including intent recognition, RAG-based responses, and escalation to live agents
  • Ensure operational health of human handover, knowledge-base synchronization, and mitigations for hallucination or mis-routing
  • Manage, mentor, hire, and develop backend, frontend, and QA/automation engineers
  • Run agile delivery activities including sprint planning, retrospectives, release captain rotation, regression testing, and automation maintenance
  • Own production support, on-call readiness, incident response, alerting, and post-incident documentation
  • Track and report AI system health metrics to engineering and product leadership
  • Collaborate with Engineering Managers, the Director of Software Engineering, and Product/UX leadership on roadmaps and dependencies

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, spanning backend and frontend systems
  • 3+ years in an engineering management or tech lead role, managing and developing engineers
  • Hands-on experience building or operating production systems using LLMs/generative AI, such as RAG pipelines, prompt/guardrail design, or agent orchestration (e.g., AWS Bedrock, OpenAI, or similar)
  • Experience with conversational AI or chatbot platforms and integrating them with human escalation systems (e.g., CRM/helpdesk tools)
  • Experience operating in a regulated, compliance-sensitive environment and partnering with Legal and Security on AI risk, safety, and privacy
  • Experience with event-driven data pipelines (e.g., Kafka, S3, Snowflake) supporting analytics and reporting use cases
  • Strong production operations background: on-call ownership, incident response, observability/alerting tooling (e.g., New Relic, PagerDuty), and load/performance testing
  • Experience partnering cross-functionally with Product Management, UX, and clinical/content stakeholders on user-facing feature delivery
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Preferred: experience with search/discovery systems, mobile platforms, translation/localization pipelines, healthcare/wellbeing/benefits technology, and evaluating or migrating conversational AI or customer support vendor platforms
