Job Description
Engineering director leading Karat’s Bengaluru engineering organization. Building SaaS workflows, interview platforms, and AI-assisted technical-assessment products for Karat, the world’s largest interviewing company.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and grow Karat’s India-based engineering organization
- Report to the Vice President of Engineering and collaborate with engineering leaders and teams in the United States
- Own engineering delivery for multiple product areas and features from technical approach through launch and ongoing operation
- Lead design and development of enterprise workflows and self-serve hubs supporting the hiring process
- Deliver initiatives including the HM Experience App, Recruiter Hub, ATS integrations, candidate funnel management, and post-interview decisioning portals
- Enhance delivery operations tooling, messaging and notifications infrastructure, cost-saving initiatives, and payment operations
- Identify and apply emerging technologies, including AI-assisted workflows, to advance Karat’s interviewing platform and technical-assessment capabilities
- Develop senior technical talent and engineering managers
- Build local leadership and delegate product and feature ownership across teams
- Build effective working relationships across India and global teams so employees operate as one company
Requirements:
- 10+ years of professional software-engineering experience
- 5+ years of management experience
- Demonstrated experience shipping and operating customer-facing, hosted SaaS software products in production; required qualification
- Strong technical depth and experience in AI-driven technologies
- Ability to contribute to architecture, design reviews, code reviews, and consequential technical tradeoffs
- Experience leading the end-to-end software development lifecycle for customer-facing products
- Experience hiring, coaching, and performance-managing engineers
- Experience managing engineering managers strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to develop senior engineering leaders and delegate product, technical, and people-leadership responsibilities
- Track record of improving engineering culture, development processes, and technical systems while balancing delivery, platform health, reliability, security, and technical debt
- Experience working across geographically distributed teams, ideally collaborating between India and U.S.-based engineering organizations
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Must reside in Bengaluru (formerly Bangalore), India
- Applications and submissions must be 100% in English
- Ability to overlap with U.S. business hours
