Job Description
Executive Director leading global RWE and Phase IV clinical research project management delivery. Owning portfolio operations, P&L, quality, client satisfaction, growth, and leadership development.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a global team of project management professionals
- Oversee operational delivery, financial performance, quality outcomes, and client satisfaction for the RWE and Phase IV project management portfolio
- Drive business growth, portfolio profitability, delivery excellence, strategic resourcing, and cross-functional collaboration
- Manage the RWE and Phase IV project management P&L and achieve financial objectives, including profitable growth and market expansion
- Monitor research operations performance against client satisfaction, quality, and financial KPIs
- Drive competitive pricing through right-fit resourcing models
- Partner with Proposals, Commercial, and Finance leadership on budget tools, bid and pricing reviews, resourcing, and delivery strategies
- Build and develop a high-performing leadership team, including talent development and succession planning
- Promote financial stewardship, budget management, forecasting, and delivery excellence among project managers
- Partner with senior leaders in Clinical Operations, Commercial, Finance, Quality, and other functions
- Oversee quality, performance, and success of projects across the portfolio
- Embed risk management practices and implement project tools, templates, and performance reporting
- Drive high client satisfaction, repeat business, and portfolio expansion
- Identify and direct department and company initiatives
- Support bid defenses, portfolio planning, and strategic accounts
- Report to the VP of RWE and Phase IV Studies
- Travel to client meetings, sites, company businesses, and training events as needed
Requirements:
- High financial acumen and demonstrated financial stewardship success at a P&L (preferred) or portfolio level
- Experience with RWE and Phase IV delivery resourcing models and budget development
- Proven team leadership and staff development
- Exceptional presentation skills for all levels, including executive leadership
- Experience with strategic planning activities
- Extensive knowledge of the clinical development spectrum and ICH GCP, especially RWE and Phase IV
- Advanced proficiency in organizational and time management skills
- Sound judgment in high-stakes or ambiguous situations
- Fluent in English, written and verbal
- University/college degree in life sciences
- Minimum 12 years of relevant clinical research experience in a pharmaceutical company/CRO
- At least 8 years of full project management responsibility
- Minimum 6 years of supervisory experience
- PMP or certification in clinical research preferred
- Ability to access and use in-house and off-the-shelf computer software
- Regular and consistent attendance
- Willingness to work varied hours as required
- Ability to travel 20%–30% of the time
- Ability to perform the stated physical demands, including stationary work, repetitive hand movements, bending/twisting, and lifting 15–20 lbs
