Job Description
Field Service Technician training roofing staff and contractors while inspecting IKO commercial roofing installations. Supporting quality assurance, product education, and warranty investigations across Michigan.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary trainer for on-roof quality inspections and in-shop contractor training of new Technical Services staff
- Serve as liaison with the contractor community for IKO’s new US commercial roofing division
- Perform quality control inspections to assure quality workmanship on IKO warrantied installations
- Train and educate new Field Service Technicians in on-roof inspection techniques and in-shop contractor training
- Report trainee performance and progress to the Technical Manager, Single Ply Systems
- Liaise with commercial contractors and perform quality assurance inspections of ongoing and completed commercial roofing jobs
- Prepare and conduct theory and hands-on commercial product training for existing and potential Registered Contractors
- Produce written inspection and quality assurance reports for internal and external customers
- Work with the contracting community and distribution network on product education and promotion
- Conduct warranty claims investigations when appropriate
- Attend related association events to promote IKO Commercial products
- Attend internal meetings, functions, and company-provided training as required
- Adhere to Health and Safety policies and IKO Vehicle policies
- Perform other assigned responsibilities
Requirements:
- 3+ years direct hands-on experience in commercial roofing business
- Extensive experience in training single-ply roofing techniques (TPO and PVC) according to established standards and practices
- Experience with quality assurance and roof inspections with roofing contractor
- Ability to read technical roofing documentation/specifications
- Highly comfortable demonstrating and presenting product applications, either hands on or in presentation format
- Demonstrated ability to train individuals and groups in single-ply roofing
- Passion for quality workmanship while building lasting customer relationships
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work with contractors and present the benefits of IKO commercial products
- Adaptability to changing priorities and responsibilities
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Ability to travel throughout the designated territory, potentially with overnight stays
- Frequent travel and site visits may be required
