Job Description
Finance Associate supporting ClimateWorks' financial position through review of grantee financial documents and reports. Collaborating with Finance & Grants team for effective financial management.
Responsibilities:
- The Finance Associate will report to the Associate Director of Finance.
- The Finance Associate is a key member of the Finance & Grants team within the larger Finance & Facilities Department at ClimateWorks.
- Reviewing grantee financial documents (including financial statements and organizational budgets) to ensure that grantees are financially healthy, flagging any concerns to the Senior Director, Finance.
- Verifying completeness of grantee financial reporting and coordinating with grantees and the Grants Team on incomplete reports.
- Contributing to an effective grantmaking forecast and monitoring spenddown on ending funding sources.
- Assisting with quarterly collection and analysis of time estimates.
- Working with the team to ensure accuracy of information in ClimateWorks’ budget and reporting system, Adaptive.
- Aiding in the development and improvement of team systems, including Adaptive and the new Grants Management System, and team processes.
- Providing ad-hoc financial analysis, as needed.
- Contributing to the work and priorities of the Finance & Grants Team, as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; course work or work experience in Finance or Accounting.
- 2+ years of relevant work experience.
- Familiarity with general accounting and financial principles, including reading financial statements and budgeting.
- Experience maintaining a database.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills, with ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to follow through on open issues and work effectively with a diverse group of staff, partners and vendors in a service-oriented manner.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Commitment to the mission of the ClimateWorks Foundation.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently (both virtually and in-person) with minimal supervision.
