Job Description
General Manager leading Runway’s AI creator-platform expansion in Japan. Building enterprise partnerships, local teams and go-to-market strategy across media, entertainment, advertising and technology.
Responsibilities:
- Define and lead Runway’s go-to-market strategy for Japan, focusing on high-value enterprise accounts
- Lead commercial expansion across media, entertainment, advertising, brands and technology sectors
- Identify enterprise and distribution partnerships
- Cultivate relationships with C-suite executives at major Japanese firms
- Localize product and marketing strategy for the Japanese market with Product, Creative and Marketing teams
- Serve as subject matter expert on the Japanese and broader Asia competitive landscape, regulatory environment and emerging AI trends
- Build the Japan office by recruiting, leading and mentoring local enterprise account executives, growth leads and deployment leads
- Represent Runway at industry events, conferences and in the media
- Potentially expand into Country Manager responsibilities for Tokyo-based candidates, overseeing local operations and serving as Runway’s primary representative in Japan
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise software, media technology or high-growth AI startups
- Proven leadership track record building and cultivating high-performance teams
- Native fluency in Japanese
- Professional fluency in English
- Ability to bridge communication between U.S. teams and local stakeholders
- Existing network within major Japanese media companies, advertising agencies or major technology conglomerates
- Deep understanding of Japanese business etiquette
- Ability to navigate complex organizational hierarchies
- Comfort with ambiguity in early-stage international expansion
- First-principles thinking to close deals and build scalable processes
- Candidates based in Tokyo may assume expanded Country Manager responsibilities
