Job Description
Generator Technician maintaining and repairing commercial generators on telecom cell towers. Traveling throughout the assigned region while responding to alarms and performing electrical maintenance.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain generators and diagnose and repair problems
- Install and replace generator components or entire systems
- Perform additional maintenance or upgrades on out-of-season equipment
- Conduct performance checks and regular maintenance to ensure generator readiness
- Read and follow blueprints and other design specifications for installation and repair
- Install fuel and water supply lines, pumps, electrical wiring, controls, and other components
- Test equipment for proper operation
- Respond promptly to power/generator alarms
- Participate in 24/7 on-call coverage when necessary or assigned
- Follow safety practices and use safety equipment
- Attend and participate in designated safety and training meetings
- Service and repair commercial generators on cell phone towers in the assigned region
Requirements:
- Minimum of one year of intense work-related experience with generator and electrical maintenance-related software, hardware, and processes
- Two or more years of experience with generator maintenance preferred
- Thorough knowledge of generator installations, maintenance, and repair
- Knowledge of electronic, mechanical, and electrical components
- Moderate computer skills
- Basic knowledge of pertinent FCC/FAA/EPA/OSHA regulations
- Ability to comply with OSHA Standards
- Ability to lift over 50 pounds, stoop, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and stand for long periods
- Ability to inspect and/or troubleshoot equipment and alarms effectively, visually and audibly
- Willingness and ability to drive long distances and work daytime, evening, or night hours
- Ability to work overtime, emergency callouts, weekends, and holidays as required
- Ability to assume 24-hour on-call duty when assigned and be away from home for extended periods
- Ability to pass a DOT physical
- Willingness to travel
- Must be able to respond promptly to power/generator alarms and assigned phone and email
