Job Description
Contract Grant Writer developing compelling proposals for Canadian R&D funding. Seeking adaptable writers for diverse projects with varying experience levels.
Responsibilities:
- Write compelling, persuasive, and compliant grant proposals aligned with funding requirements and criteria
- Develop budgets, timelines, and other supporting documents for grant submissions
- Use AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) to support research, ideation, and drafting
- Manage the grant application process, including coordinating with clients to gather necessary information
- Track and report on the status of assigned grant applications to ensure deadlines are met
- Provide post-submission follow-up, including responding to funders' inquiries as needed
- Ensure all grant proposals are thoroughly documented and meet funders’ guidelines
- Maintain accurate records of all assigned grant submissions
- Communicate effectively with clients throughout the grant application process
- Provide regular updates on application status and next steps
Requirements:
- Advanced degree in a relevant field (STEM, Business, English, or related)
- 2+ years of grant writing experience (minimum); 5+ years preferred for senior-level applicants
- Proven track record of securing grants (please list examples in your application)
- Strong technical acumen with the ability to understand complex scientific/technological concepts
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail
- Ability to translate complex technical information into clear and compelling narratives
- Excellent project management and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience with or understanding of startups or scale-ups is a plus
- Familiarity with grants in areas such as med tech, agriculture, AI, or software development is beneficial
