Job Description
Healthcare Certification Exam Specialist supporting AAPC’s exam development initiatives. Create and validate certification assessments while collaborating with subject matter experts and stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Support AAPC’s certification exam development initiatives through the creation, review, maintenance, and validation of credentialing assessments and related exam products
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, exam committees, and internal stakeholders to ensure certification exams align with industry standards
- Develop and maintain certification exam items that assess real-world healthcare knowledge and skills
- Support the creation of practice exams, study guides, courses, and additional educational resources
- Conduct technical and quality reviews of exam and educational content
- Lead and mentor Exam Development Committees and exam item authors
- Build and maintain exam competency maps and certification blueprints
- Coordinate beta testing and support item validation efforts
- Participate in ongoing process improvement initiatives and team collaboration sessions
- Assist with additional projects and strategic initiatives as needed
Requirements:
- Active coding certification from a recognized organization (e.g., AAPC or AHIMA)
- Strong understanding of medical coding, billing, auditing, compliance, or revenue cycle operations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Experience collaborating across technical and nontechnical teams
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Experience working in a coding or billing environment preferred
- Experience in national exam item writing preferred
- Experience in healthcare education, credentialing, or certification preferred
- Familiarity with psychometrics, exam development, or adult learning principles preferred
