Job Description
Healthcare programmer analyzing Medicaid, Medicare, claims, and pharmaceutical pricing data for AIR, a nonprofit research organization. Producing statistical analyses, reports, datasets, and technical documentation while mentoring SAS programmers.
Responsibilities:
- Extract, recode, merge, and de-duplicate datasets for analysis
- Conduct outlier analyses, manage missing data, and create derived analysis variables
- Perform statistical analyses supporting research and reporting needs
- Generate customized reports summarizing data analysis results
- Produce computer-generated data listings, summary tables, and data collection outputs
- Provide technical oversight, mentorship, and training to junior SAS programmers
- Debug and revise code by identifying and resolving programming errors
- Write and maintain documentation for code, programs, and technical specifications
- Prepare technical reports and contribute to proposal development
- Perform related duties and special projects as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Public Health, Economics, Epidemiology, or a related quantitative field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working with large-scale healthcare administrative or claims data
- Direct experience processing and analyzing Medicare, Medicaid, and/or other commercial claims data
- Direct experience with pharmaceutical pricing data, prescription drug encounter data, or related data sources
- Experience using SQL, Python, R, and/or other data analysis tools
- Knowledge of data analysis and data management techniques
- Experience applying SAS in research or analytical settings, particularly in health or social sciences
- Knowledge and experience with advanced analytic techniques such as machine learning preferred, but not required
- Proposal and report preparation experience preferred, but not required
- Skilled in all aspects of data processing management
- Effective communication and collaboration in a virtual work environment
- Organizational and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent deliveries in a fast-paced environment
- Analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis
- Employment-based visa sponsorship, including H-1B sponsorship, is not available
- May need to meet certain residency requirements depending on project work
- Selected candidates will undergo reference and background checks
