Job Description
Hospital Coding Specialist in charge of interpreting medical records and assigning codes for billing. Requires certification and coding experience in a standard office environment.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews and accurately interprets medical record documentation
- Codes moderately complex patient classes
- Assures quality and timely coding, charging and abstraction of accounts
- Maintains and enhances current levels of coding knowledge
- Contacts physicians to obtain information for accurate code assignments
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Certification in one of the following: RHIT, RHIA, CCS, COC-A, COC, CPC-H, CPC, or CIC
- One (1) year of hospital coding experience
