Job Description
HV Technical Leader guiding technical teams and commissioning high-voltage systems across offshore wind projects. Driving safety, reliability, issue resolution, and project readiness.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of 5–10 Technical Support Engineers specialized in HV systems
- Set priorities, balance workload, plan resources, and define technical development plans
- Align team resources with project deadlines and KPI targets
- Define and align internal processes across the Technical Support team
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring
- Act as the highest commissioning technical authority and primary escalation point for HV-related issues
- Lead technical investigations and coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Suppliers, and Field Operations
- Support project preparation, including procedures, commissioning plans, tools, spares, readiness reviews, and test plan validation
- Oversee investigations of non-conformities, defects, and reliability issues; manage defects and PACs
- Capture and deploy technical lessons learned across the fleet
- Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, reliability, productivity, digitalization, and data analytics
- Standardize commissioning methodologies, troubleshooting processes, and technical documentation
- Support engineering during NPI commissioning processes and prepare onshore and offshore commissioning protocols
- Represent Commissioning in technical reviews with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
- Promote EHS culture and compliance with electrical safety, LOTO, switching protocols, and Electrical Safety Management Plans
Requirements:
- Degree or Technical Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Fluent English required
- Additional languages such as Spanish, French, or Portuguese are a plus
- Extensive experience in wind turbine commissioning, technical support, or operations in the wind energy industry
- Strong expertise in HV electrical systems, including transformers, switchgear and protection systems, cable systems, grid connection and energization processes, HV switching operations, high voltage power distribution, and electrical drive trains
- Proven experience supporting commissioning or operation of offshore wind farms
- Previous experience leading technical investigations, complex troubleshooting activities, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams
- Demonstrated systems thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
- Ability to assess tradeoffs, assess risk, and optimize results
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders without direct authority
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing technical teams of 5+ engineers or technical workstreams
- Experience with design or commissioning of HV transformers, MV switchgear, power converters, and PM generators
- Experience with commissioning procedures, electrical testing and diagnostics, and quality tools (8D, SIPOC, FMEA)
- Strategic thinking and demonstrated ability to set vision and lead a team to successful outcomes
