Job Description
Senior Index Analyst managing the index production process and ensuring regulatory compliance. Collaborating with data providers to enhance data quality and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Own the end-to-end index production process, ensuring on-time and accurate publication.
- Ensure full adherence to regulatory and governance requirements.
- Maintain documentation, controls, and audit trails in line with applicable standards.
- Identify and mitigate operational and methodological risks.
- Proactively identify and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and ease of execution.
- Recommend regulatory or methodological enhancements where appropriate.
- Develop automation and validation checks to reduce manual intervention and risk.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across index operations.
- Work with new data providers to standardize data formats and processes, managing onboarding from agreement through to live production.
- Establish validation frameworks and data quality controls for new sources.
- Collaborate with existing providers to increase data coverage, improve data quality, and streamline submission processes.
- Build and maintain strong external relationships to support long-term data reliability.
- Contribute to the development of new data and platform products.
- Work cross-functionally with internal teams and external stakeholders to define requirements and ensure operational feasibility.
- Support testing, validation, and launch processes for new offerings.
- Conduct ad hoc data analysis projects (both manager-led and self-initiated).
- Identify trends, anomalies, and commercial insights within index data.
- Support internal and external stakeholders with analytical expertise.
Requirements:
- 5+ years’ experience in index production, financial benchmarks, shipping markets, commodities, or a related data-driven environment.
- Strong understanding of benchmark governance and regulatory frameworks (e.g., IOSCO principles or equivalent).
- Proven experience managing complex data processes with high accuracy requirements.
- Experience working with external data providers or contributors.
- Advanced analytical skills and strong proficiency in Excel; experience with data tools (e.g., Python, SQL, BI tools) preferred.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with full ownership and accountability.
