Job Description
Indirect tax technology specialist optimizing VAT systems, analytics, and e-invoicing automation. Supporting AECOM, a global infrastructure consulting firm, across Tax, Finance, and IT.
Responsibilities:
- Support indirect tax technology implementation, maintenance, and optimization
- Assist with Tax Engine and Tax Compliance maintenance and documentation
- Maintain automation and reporting process tools including Vertex O, VITR, SAF-T, real-time reporting, and e-invoicing
- Assess, document, and improve processes and data flows
- Drive Power BI data analytics tools to increase efficiency for tax activities
- Design and implement Alteryx workflows to streamline tax processes and improve analytics capabilities
- Maintain production tax systems, troubleshoot tax issues, and implement system updates in Oracle R12 EBTax
- Troubleshoot indirect tax, compliance, and e-invoicing issues
- Identify process improvements and recommend implementation strategies
- Deploy and support tax compliance solutions, including e-invoicing and real-time reporting
- Develop expertise in tax-related software and build and deliver training
- Liaise between Tax, Finance, and IT on tax technology projects
- Document, share, and test overlapping tax system requirements
- Perform other assigned tax projects
- Attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (or relevant equivalent experience) in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Information Systems, or related field
- At least 4 years of experience in tax technology with emphasis on indirect tax systems
- In-depth knowledge of VAT regulations and systems (VAT/GST)
- Proficiency with Vertex O-Series, Vertex Returns, Alteryx, SQL, and RPA
- Experience using tax technology tools to streamline tax compliance, automate workflows, and enhance data accuracy and reporting
- Strong experience with Tableau, Power BI, and data integrity tools
- ERP experience, preferably Oracle
- Ability to support multiple ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with SharePoint and/or Power Automate
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Analytical mindset with strong controls orientation and attention to detail
- Ability to work somewhat flexible hours to support global team time zones
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship
- Preferred: knowledge of RPA, AI, or machine learning applications in tax
- Preferred: project management certifications such as PMP, Six Sigma, or LEAN
- Preferred: professional tax or accounting certifications such as ACA, CA, or CTA
- Preferred: Alteryx certification
- Preferred: SQL or other database experience
- Preferred: tax engine certifications such as Vertex or Thomson Reuters
- Preferred: experience with e-invoicing platforms and real-time reporting requirements
