Job Description
Infrastructure Engineer managing Db2 for z/OS infrastructure at a UK bank. Automating infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, and database operations.
Responsibilities:
- Engineer Db2-related infrastructure technology compliant with security, resilience, sustainability, and operational requirements
- Build observability and guardrails into infrastructure technology
- Use automation to provide testing and a route to live for products
- Help customers use products appropriately through their CI/CD pipelines
- Contribute to and manage selection, creation, and maintenance of customer and strategic technologies
- Develop products using modern engineering practices and tools
- Collaborate with stakeholders to design and support engineered products
- Respond to user feedback and feature requests
- Resolve production issues requested by the Product Owner
- Design intuitive, self-service infrastructure products within a team
- Contribute to infrastructure-as-code solutions
- Work with users to gain feedback
- Provide operational support for pattern- or product-related issues
- Generate innovative ideas and deliver them through product features
- Advise on and deliver projects using Db2 for z/OS database design principles and best practices
- Develop technical skills through continuous learning and development
Requirements:
- Experience in Db2 database design and administration
- Automation scripting experience such as Python or Shell
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle
- Experience utilizing modern infrastructure as code tooling
- Experience with IBM Db2 toolset beneficial
- Good understanding of Agile working practices and toolsets
- Strong experience in Db2 for z/OS database design principles and best practices
- Proven experience conducting SQL performance reviews and optimization
- Hands-on experience with DDL deployments and implementation according to established standards and governance
- Ability to design and implement robust housekeeping, backup, and recovery strategies
- Working knowledge of developing CI/CD pipelines using modern tooling
- Experience using observability tools and techniques
- Experience working with technology deployed to an on-premise datacentre
- Understanding of a DevOps mindset, collaboration, automation, and tooling
