Job Description
Lead engineer developing Electronic Warfare prototype systems for BAE Systems Digital Intelligence. Owning concept development from ideas through laboratory and field demonstrations, while leading engineers and suppliers.
Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of projects from idea generation through concept development to system demonstration in the laboratory and field
- Develop prototype systems, hardware, software, and techniques for next-generation Electronic Warfare products
- Provide technical oversight to multidisciplinary internal engineering teams and external partners
- Work closely with software, FPGA, and hardware engineers to develop advanced prototype systems and techniques up to Technology Readiness Level 6
- Mentor less experienced engineers
- Contribute ideas for process and quality improvement
- Identify appropriate technologies for new products
- Act as technical lead on assigned Concept Development tasks
- Ensure tasks reach laboratory demonstration and field demonstration milestones, or stop projects that cannot be completed cost-effectively and on time
- Arrange and coordinate reviews
- Provide technical support to other company departments, suppliers, and partners
- Review and allocate issues in Jira
- Ensure design descriptions are produced and maintained in Confluence
- Hand successful prototype designs over to the R&D Product Development team for further development beyond Technology Readiness Level 6
- Line-manage the R&D Concept Development team
- Task allocated engineering staff day to day
- Develop Statements of Work and task subcontractors and suppliers
- Manage subcontractors and suppliers contributing to Concept Development projects
- Perform other reasonable duties supporting company objectives
- Have due regard for PV Grading, F680, and Export Licence Controls
- Work to Kirintec’s ISO standards
Requirements:
- Experienced Lead Engineer
- Ability to own projects from idea generation through concept development to laboratory and field demonstration
- Ability to manage own work while contributing to a small dynamic team
- Capability to provide technical leadership and oversight to multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Experience or capability in working with software, FPGA, and hardware engineering
- Ability to mentor less experienced engineers
- Ability to identify appropriate technologies for new products
- Knowledge of Jira and Confluence
- Ability to develop Statements of Work and task subcontractors and suppliers
- Ability to manage subcontractors and suppliers
- Due regard for PV Grading, F680, and Export Licence Controls
- Ability to work to Kirintec’s ISO standards
