Job Description
Lead Supplier Quality Engineer improving supplier quality, delivery, and cost performance for GE Grid Solutions. Auditing suppliers and leading product development with global partners.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships to ensure purchase-order execution meets GE Grid Solutions requirements
- Participate in expanding the supply base globally
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve annual Quality, Delivery, and Cost targets for critical underperforming suppliers
- Drive supplier selection through SRG, qualification, and process audits
- Perform periodic and surveillance supplier audits and coordinate supplier self-assessments
- Support, collect, evaluate, and perform product-line audit requests
- Work with Product Lines and Global Commodity Leaders to address customer-needs and supplier-performance issues
- Lead non-conformity management, root-cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions
- Identify supply-chain competency gaps using KPIs and intelligence gathering; develop and lead Supplier Improvement Plans
- Work with suppliers and supplier teams to improve quality and delivery performance
- Develop and maintain open, respectful communications with staff and suppliers
- Work with global suppliers in India to develop parts and products meeting abroad-unit requirements
- Define product, process, and documentation requirements and ensure supplier compliance
- Communicate with colleagues abroad regarding technical topics
- Provide leadership during major-problem investigations and special projects involving suppliers and procurement
- Conduct pre-shipment inspections of developed and serial-production parts
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from four-year college or university; and 14+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Previous quality engineering, supplier quality engineering, or product development engineering experience in an electrical/electronic manufacturing environment
- Low-cost-country supply chain experience, including Incoterms, packing requirements, and documentation requirements
- Auditing/ISO 9001 standard knowledge
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Lean Six Sigma knowledge
- Must be able to read, write, and comprehend the English language
- Ability to read and analyze technical procedures, drawings, governmental regulations, and quality management rules
- Ability to communicate clearly with suppliers in written and verbal means
- Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule-form instructions
- Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization
- Ability to work independently
- Customer and supplier relationship skills
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office programs and Windows operating systems
- Strong knowledge of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Ethics and compliance mindset
- Compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental Policies
