Job Description
Data Science Manager shaping consumer and developer experiences at Capital One, a data-driven banking technology company. Building machine-learning models and strategic prototypes from large-scale customer data.
Responsibilities:
- Support strategic priorities for Consumer and Developer Experience leaders as part of the product strategy team
- Partner with software engineers, business analysts, and product managers to deliver customer-focused products and business results
- Use Python, Conda, AWS, H2O, Spark, and other technologies to uncover insights from large numeric and textual datasets
- Build machine learning models through design, training, evaluation, validation, and implementation
- Translate complex data science work into tangible business goals
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies and apply state-of-the-art methods
- Develop prototypes and partner with product and engineering teams to scale digital experiences
- Analyze strategic and analytical questions across digital engagement, marketing platforms, personalization, supplier and vendor products, and risk management products
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field plus 6 years of experience performing data analytics, or Master's Degree in a quantitative field or MBA with a quantitative concentration plus 4 years of experience, or PhD in a quantitative field plus 1 year of experience
- At least 1 year of experience leveraging open source programming languages for large scale data analysis
- At least 1 year of experience working with machine learning
- At least 1 year of experience utilizing relational databases
- Hands-on experience developing data science solutions using open-source tools and cloud computing platforms
- Experience with model building, validation, and backtesting
- Experience with clustering, classification, sentiment analysis, time series, and deep learning
- Experience retrieving, combining, and analyzing data from varied sources and structures
- Preferred: PhD in STEM plus 3 years of experience in data analytics
- Preferred: At least 1 year of experience working with AWS
- Preferred: At least 4 years’ experience in Python, Scala, or R for large scale data analysis
- Preferred: At least 4 years’ experience with machine learning
- Preferred: At least 4 years’ experience with SQL
