Job Description

Risk Analytics Manager pricing insurance risk for Extend’s AI-powered post-purchase platform. Owning pricing methodology, risk strategy, data foundations, and team development.

Responsibilities:

  • Set Extend’s risk pricing methodology, including frameworks, validation standards, and guardrails
  • Lead pricing initiatives and make risk premiums defensible, especially for new categories with limited data
  • Own the risk strategy conversation with senior leadership and recommend programs to reprice, renegotiate, or exit
  • Design decision systems for claims initiatives, premium adjustments, and program negotiations
  • Drive risk analyses into adopted business processes
  • Architect the Risk Analytics data foundation using dbt and Snowflake
  • Own data models, standards, and the multi-year Risk Analytics roadmap
  • Mentor Lead and senior data scientists and raise the team’s technical bar
  • Drive AI-native ways of working and improve the function’s efficiency and output quality
  • Represent Risk Analytics in major merchant deals and program decisions

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience in actuarial pricing, predictive modeling, or related Risk Analytics areas
  • Track record of owning methodology or strategy
  • Strong analytical and data skills
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python or R
  • Experience with pipeline development and data modeling using dbt and Snowflake
  • Experience with visualization tools such as Tableau or Streamlit
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring senior analysts or data scientists
  • Ability to raise a team’s technical bar without formal authority
  • Ability to analyze data deeply and communicate insights to C-suite and audiences with varying analytics experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
  • Passion for AI tools such as Claude and Gemini and eagerness to learn their applications
  • Ability to think beyond the insurance organization and prioritize what is best for the business holistically
  • Empathy, humility, and curiosity

  • ACAS or equivalent actuarial exam experience preferred but not required
