Job Description
Master Enterprise Architect shaping M&T Bank’s enterprise architecture roadmaps and governance. Advising senior leaders on technology strategy, emerging technologies, and risk-aligned solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Document, visualize, and articulate the overall technical health and current and target states of Enterprise Architecture in collaboration with senior leadership
- Lead development of roadmaps for targeted domains or functions and connect them with the broader Enterprise technology landscape
- Collaborate with senior technology leaders on technical and business strategy to support strategic decision-making
- Provide consultation services to improve domain technology delivery and operational efficiency
- Own and drive the Enterprise Architecture governance process
- Synthesize research and fact-based recommendations to influence senior technology leaders’ decisions
- Provide thought leadership and build stakeholder partnerships around domain current state, target state, and roadmaps
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and lead architecture partnerships across business, application, data, Cloud/infrastructure, security, integration, operations, and support
- Research and apply existing, new, and emerging technologies and trends
- Translate the future-state architecture vision into principles, guidelines, standards, and patterns
- Identify and communicate solutions for domain problems, including new products, platforms, and system enhancements
- Create and maintain reference materials for technical delivery teams to ensure compliant enterprise architecture patterns
- Drive planning and design of strategic initiatives requiring architecture oversight
- Adhere to risk and regulatory standards, policies, controls, and Company Risk Appetite; escalate risk-related issues
- Promote belonging and reflect the M&T Bank brand
- Maintain internal control standards and implement audit and regulatory points promptly
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 13 years higher education and/or relevant work experience
- Experience negotiating, influencing, and achieving alignment with senior technology and business leaders
- 9 or more years of experience developing and integrating applications using relevant software architecture principles and patterns
- Experience utilizing architectural frameworks
- Experience working with enterprise architecture tools
- Experience in architecture modeling to strategically plan capabilities within domains
- Work experience in software engineering, software delivery, and solution architecture
- Graduate degree in business or technical discipline preferred
- Certification and experience working with Cloud technologies and vendors preferred
- Experience working in an Agile environment preferred
- Certification in enterprise architecture frameworks preferred
- Experience working in the financial services industry preferred
- Experience working in three or more technical roles related to banking technical design and roadmap planning preferred
- Experience in banking, application, data, Cloud and infrastructure, cybersecurity, and integration architecture preferred
- Experience driving and delivering innovation opportunities within banking to senior leadership preferred
