Job Description
Membership Director leading IASA recruitment, engagement, renewal and retention. Managing membership operations, chapters and volunteers for The Institutes’ risk and insurance education nonprofit.
Responsibilities:
- Own and execute a comprehensive membership strategy focused on acquisition, engagement, renewal and retention
- Assess membership performance and recommend changes based on data and member feedback
- Establish and monitor membership KPIs and goals, including engagement, retention and renewal rates
- Develop and execute new member welcome and onboarding programs
- Articulate IASA’s value proposition, programs, resources and benefits to members and prospects
- Collaborate with Marketing on membership recruitment and retention strategy
- Develop strategies to increase participation across member companies and demonstrate organizational-level value and ROI
- Build relationships with key member contacts and organizational stakeholders
- Test new approaches to member recruitment, engagement and retention, evaluate results and scale successful efforts
- Oversee membership data tracking and reporting
- Own membership database operations and data integrity, including records, billing, renewals, activity tracking, integrations, imports and vendor coordination
- Serve as a key relationship contact and resolve membership questions and needs
- Improve membership workflows, processes, efficiency, data quality and member experience
- Develop and implement a member engagement scoring program
- Identify opportunities to automate, eliminate or simplify manual work and use technology and AI
- Establish scalable membership operations standards and processes
- Develop and execute strategies to strengthen chapter health, effectiveness and alignment with IASA priorities
- Identify recurring chapter needs and develop standardized tools, resources, training or processes
- Evaluate chapter programs, resources and support models
- Serve as staff liaison to the Chapter Advisory Committee
- Support other volunteer groups as needed
- Travel to chapter events and meetings as IASA’s ambassador
- Uphold positive relations between chapters and the national organization
- Identify and replicate high-performing chapter strategies
- Manage chapter recognition and incentive programs
Requirements:
- A minimum of three years of membership and/or chapter leadership experience, in a non-profit, member-driven organization
- A minimum of two years’ experience managing volunteer groups
- Experience overseeing an Association Management System (AMS); iMIS experience preferred
- High-level experience with data management and analysis, and use of data to inform membership strategies and activities
- CAE or IOM preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead projects from concept through implementation, including establishing next steps, managing timelines and solving problems without extensive oversight
- Strong judgment and prioritization skills; able to distinguish what is important from what is simply urgent and make thoughtful tradeoffs when capacity is limited
- Comfortable working in a small-team environment where responsibilities may extend beyond traditional functional boundaries and priorities may shift
- Proactively identifies opportunities to simplify processes, eliminate unnecessary work, leverage technology and maximize limited staff capacity
- Must be able to travel 3-5x per year
