Job Description
Mobile vehicle inspector conducting on-site dealer-lot inspections for Cox Automotive’s Manheim marketplace. Documenting vehicle condition, managing territory schedules, and supporting dealer participation.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct on-site vehicle condition inspections for dealer clients within an assigned territory
- Locate, start, move, inspect, and safely return vehicles on dealer client lots
- Verify vehicle identification, VINs, mileage, sub-series, and options; enter data accurately into systems
- Inspect and document exterior and interior vehicle condition, including tires, frame, glass, panels, mechanical components, seating, dashboard, and installed options
- Perform basic mechanical checks across powertrain, drivetrain, and electrical components
- Identify and document damage, missing components, or inoperable features
- Build trust and strong relationships with dealer clients
- Educate clients on Manheim Marketplace and mobile inspection services
- Proactively engage dealers to increase inspection volume and maintain participation
- Use data, insights, and partner input to maximize inspection efficiency and territory productivity
- Adapt to changes in daily appointments and schedules to ensure dealer coverage
- Prepare and submit daily activity and production reports
- Utilize Salesforce.com for reporting, lead management, and customer performance tracking
- Collaborate with Wholesale Specialists, peers, and other Manheim teams
- Contribute to continuous improvement and Lean process enhancement
- Maintain production expectations established by leadership
- Follow safety and health procedures and participate in Safety Excellence initiatives
- Comply with Manheim inspection standards, including the NAAA Frame/Structure Damage Policy
- Senior Level: perform advanced inspections, mentor peers, support onboarding, and serve as a subject matter resource
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required for Level 1
- Level 2: High School Diploma or GED plus 3+ years of experience in a related field; alternatively, any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED, or 5 years’ experience in a related field
- Senior Level: High School Diploma/GED plus 5 years’ experience in a related field; alternatively, any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience, or 7 years’ experience in a related field
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record required
- Ability to meet physical and mental demands of the role within required timeframes
- Previous vehicle inspection experience required for Senior Level
- Strong automotive knowledge (body and mechanical) required for Senior Level
- 0–1 years of automotive-related experience preferred for Level 1
- 1–2 years of automotive-related experience preferred for Level 2
- 2–3 years of automotive-related experience strongly preferred for Senior Level
- 1 year of service with Manheim Inspections recommended for Senior Level
- Must currently be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship
- No OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT, or visa sponsorship now or in future
- Must clear a pre-employment drug test
