Job Description

Pfizer oncology medical director guiding thoracic cancer education and medical strategy across New England. Supporting clinical trial sites, healthcare professionals, patient advocacy, and evidence generation.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute Medical strategy and engagement for assigned customers within the New England territory
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant therapeutic areas, disease states, and Pfizer medicines
  • Provide therapeutic area and product information to internal and external stakeholders
  • Serve as a conduit for Medical Information and customer insights
  • Develop and execute aligned Field Medical tactics
  • Communicate and collaborate with headquarters Medical colleagues, Medical Information, and Field Medical colleagues
  • Deliver approved medical and scientific education through live, virtual, written, telephone, and other channels
  • Deliver approved medical content about Pfizer medicines and relevant therapeutic topics
  • Identify and engage priority customer segments
  • Respond to unsolicited medical requests from healthcare professionals in compliance with Pfizer policies
  • Lead advisory boards, working with vendors when necessary
  • Field inbound healthcare professional queries through the established triage process
  • Identify potential sites for Pfizer-sponsored clinical trials, including sites serving under-represented patient populations
  • Provide Medical support throughout the Investigator Sponsored Research process
  • Cultivate oncology research and therapeutic area expertise
  • Provide asset leadership
  • Communicate study design, methodology, data analysis, and interpretation concepts to customers
  • Lead territory strategic planning, prioritization, and accountability for medical impact
  • Communicate with local Patient Advocacy Groups in collaboration with Corporate Affairs and HQ Medical Affairs
  • Deliver actionable field insights on patient organizations, patient needs, treatment patterns, standards of care, and unmet data needs
  • Serve on Medical, therapeutic area, and asset cross-functional committees
  • Represent Pfizer Medical Affairs with clinical/professional associations and societies
  • Mentor onboarding partners, advisory board leads, and study leads
  • Participate in special projects as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health science required
  • Relevant experience required: PharmD/PhD with 6 years of experience, MBA/MSc with 8 years of experience, BA/BSc with 10 years of experience
  • Subject matter expert recognized across internal and external stakeholders
  • Breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage conflict constructively
  • Ability to manage a significant volume of projects in a remote environment, prioritize, implement successfully, and exercise excellent judgment
  • Ability to work within a matrixed, multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to lead change and demonstrate change agility
  • Problem-solving and enterprise-wide networking skills
  • Clinical and technical skills
  • Ability to rapidly adopt and utilize new digital technology and record medical interactions
  • Ability to operate a Pfizer company car
  • Ability to regularly fly on airplanes
  • Flexibility to travel 60-80% of time
  • Reasonable proximity to an airline hub city
  • Ability to work on weekends
  • Currently reside in MA, ME, VT, NH, or CT
  • Candidates must be authorized to be employed in the U.S. by any employer
  • Permanent work authorization in the United States required
  • PharmD, PhD, or equivalent terminal doctoral degree highly preferred
  • Previous Field Medical experience preferred
  • Familiarity with internal/external SOPs, rules, and regulations preferred
