Job Description

Payroll Manager running multi-country payroll for AppLovin’s global advertising technology business. Managing tax compliance, equity payroll, vendors, and month-end accounting across US and international entities.

Responsibilities:

  • Own end-to-end payroll processing across the US and international entities in Singapore, Germany, Ireland, Cyprus, and Italy
  • Manage external payroll vendors and in-country service providers, including SLA and quality oversight
  • Serve as the primary contact for payroll matters across Finance, Accounting, HR, and Legal
  • Handle off-cycle payrolls, manual calculations, retroactive adjustments, and termination runs
  • Maintain payroll tax and statutory compliance across covered jurisdictions
  • File payroll tax returns, year-end forms, and local employer statutory filings
  • Monitor regulatory changes and implement required payroll changes
  • Partner with Tax and Legal on cross-border employment structures, shadow payrolls, and treaty matters
  • Support payroll audits, tax authority inquiries, and statutory inspections
  • Process and reconcile RSU, ESPP, NQ, and ISO payroll events
  • Monitor Workday HCM and payroll-system integrations
  • Audit payroll input data, validate outputs, and maintain internal controls
  • Support month-end close with payroll journal entries, headcount reconciliations, accruals, and benefits reconciliations
  • Drive payroll process improvements and automation
  • Advise HR/PeopleOps on payroll implications of compensation decisions, hires, leaves of absence, and terminations
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries and escalations

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of progressive payroll experience in a multi-country environment; at least 2 years in a lead or manager capacity
  • Deep working knowledge of US payroll tax (federal, state, local); multi-state experience required
  • Hands-on experience processing payroll in at least two of Singapore, Germany, Ireland, Cyprus, or Italy
  • Proficiency with Workday HCM/Payroll or equivalent global processor
  • Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills required
  • Experience managing payroll tax filings, year-end reconciliations, and statutory reporting across multiple jurisdictions
  • Experience processing equity-related payroll transactions (RSU, ESPP, NQ, ISO) in a public company environment
  • Detail-oriented with strong reconciliation skills
  • Ability to translate complex payroll mechanics for a non-payroll audience
  • Ability to own outcomes end-to-end in a lean, high-velocity environment
