Job Description
Payroll Specialist managing payroll operations and compliance for Airgas across multiple states. Ensuring accurate multistate payroll processing and regulatory adherence for both weekly and biweekly staff.
Responsibilities:
- Partner daily with Airgas Managers and associates to ensure Payroll accuracy and compliance.
- Responsible for performing daily payroll operations for employees across the Country for both Weekly and Biweekly staff.
- Accurate and timely multistate payroll processing using Workday.
- Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local requirements.
- Process manual checks, special pays, gross-ups, and corrections/adjustments.
- Maintain payroll records and filing administration.
- Respond to service tickets and answer routine telephone inquiries concerning payroll issues.
- Assist accounting staff in research and resolution of payroll related transactions.
- Participate in payroll year-end activities as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a payroll-related role.
- Experience in tax and payroll, multistate.
- Strong attention to detail, mathematical skills, and the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate and establish working relationships with co-workers, employees, and officials in other departments.
- Utilize the utmost discretion in the handling of confidential information.
- Preferred: Union experience.
- Preferred: Relevant certifications, such as Certified Payroll Professional or Fundamental Payroll Certification.
- Preferred: Background in Workday payroll.
