Job Description
Principal Design Manager leading enterprise data center design and governance for Iron Mountain’s records, digital transformation, and infrastructure solutions. Advising executives across complex multi-site programs.
Responsibilities:
- Provide enterprise-level design leadership for complex, high-risk, or strategically important data center programs
- Lead a portfolio of major developments and multi-site customer programs
- Manage systemic design risks across global markets to protect investment decisions
- Shape global reference designs, delivery models, and assurance playbooks
- Translate market trends, operational data, and emerging technologies into scalable requirements
- Resolve precedent-setting, highly ambiguous technical issues
- Advise senior leaders on design strategy, commercial trade-offs, and long-term capability needs
- Partner cross-functionally across Construction, Operations, Finance, and Security
- Mentor senior practitioners and sponsor communities of practice without direct line-management authority
Requirements:
- Typically 15+ years of relevant experience
- Leadership of major data center or mission-critical capital programs across multiple projects or markets
- Deep technical expertise in critical-facility design
- Proven ability to govern multi-site programs
- Ability to develop scalable playbooks
- Ability to manage enterprise-level risk
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, and judgment
- Four-year college degree in Architecture, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
- U.S. Citizenship
- Ability to travel up to 25%
- Professional registration or an engineering license is strongly preferred
