Job Description
Principal Backend Software Developer building scalable Java and AWS services for Autodesk’s design-tool collaboration platform. Mentoring developers and improving secure, reliable cloud infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Build cloud-based collaboration capabilities across Autodesk design tools
- Perform hands-on coding to deliver scalable backend services and infrastructure
- Mentor and support developers, fostering continuous learning and improvement
- Develop and maintain reliable, secure, high-performance cloud services
- Maintain code quality through automated deployments, unit and integration testing, and continuous improvement practices
- Document and clearly present technical solutions
- Deliver team commitments on time
- Participate in on-call rotations for production systems
Requirements:
- 8+ years of software development experience building enterprise-level cloud services
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Experience building cloud services using Java for backend
- Strong understanding of cloud architecture, serverless computing, microservices, infrastructure as code, GitOps, and AWS best practices
- Hands-on experience with AWS services including ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, RDS, SQS, and SNS
- Understanding of security principles, authentication, and authorization mechanisms
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, data modeling, ORM frameworks, and caching strategies
- Experience designing and working with distributed systems and RESTful APIs, including integration with internal and external team APIs
- Experience monitoring backend performance and implementing optimizations for scalability, response times, and resource usage
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions
- Preferred: significant hands-on experience with AI-powered development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and VSCode Copilot
- Preferred: familiarity with spec-driven development and agentic coding tools
