Job Description

Product Design Lead driving product design strategy and execution at Gedanken, transforming complex challenges into impactful user experiences. Collaborating closely with Product, Engineering, and Business teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and drive the design direction of products, ensuring alignment with business objectives and product strategy.
  • Serve as a technical design reference, influencing strategic decisions alongside Product and Engineering.
  • Translate complex problems into clear, intuitive, people-centered solutions.
  • Lead the full design process, from discovery and research to prototyping, validation and delivery.
  • Work on both enterprise and consumer products, balancing business needs, technology and user experience.
  • Ensure design has a measurable impact on usability, efficiency and delivered value.
  • Evolve and maintain the Design System and component library, ensuring consistency, scalability and efficiency.
  • Set and uphold high standards of design quality, including documentation, accessibility and handoff to engineering.
  • Promote continuous improvement of design tools, processes and practices.
  • Conduct or support user research, usability testing and qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  • Turn insights into design principles and actionable solutions.
  • Advocate for the user perspective at all stages of the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Data and Marketing.
  • Communicate design decisions, strategies and solutions clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ensure coherence between product experience, visual identity and brand positioning.
  • Act as a technical leader and mentor for designers, providing feedback and promoting continuous development.
  • Contribute to hiring and onboarding processes, supporting the formation of a strong, aligned design team.
  • Foster a culture of learning, experimentation, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in digital product design, with a focus on user-centered, data-informed design.
  • Experience acting as a technical reference, lead or principal designer (formal management not required).
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating process, systems thinking and launched products with real impact.
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma, including design systems, component libraries and prototyping.
  • Strong knowledge of interaction design, information architecture, accessibility and responsive design.
  • Excellent communication, ability to articulate and defend design decisions, and collaborate with technical and executive stakeholders.
