Job Description

RF spectrum engineer analyzing Link-16 communications and interference. Supporting FAA and DoD coordination to protect U.S. airspace systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform RF spectrum engineering and technical analysis
  • Conduct interagency frequency coordination supporting JTIDS, MIDS, and Link-16 operations
  • Identify and mitigate potential impacts on FAA systems and the National Airspace System
  • Serve as a technical coordination point between DoD and FAA stakeholders for military Link-16 testing, exercises, and operations
  • Review and analyze DoD TFA, QTTR, and Link-16 usage notifications
  • Prepare engineering recommendations and FAA concurrence packages documenting conditions, restrictions, or mitigation requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or similar technical equivalent, completion of a formal spectrum management course, or relevant military experience
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in RF/spectrum engineering, EMI/EMC and interference analysis, RF propagation/modeling and geospatial analysis, and/or federal frequency coordination/spectrum management
  • Experience conducting propagation modeling, link-budget analysis, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) analyses
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to learn FAA-specific software and systems
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must possess and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance or be able to obtain one
  • Preferred: experience with Link-16/JTIDS/MIDS, Tactical Data Links, JEMSO, electromagnetic spectrum management operations, electronic warfare, C2, air defense, and/or federal frequency coordination/spectrum management
  • Preferred: experience evaluating radio-frequency system parameters, mitigating interference, and resolving spectrum-engineering problems
  • Preferred: knowledge of spectrum management roles and responsibilities within the NAS
  • Preferred: knowledge of NTIA, IRAC, FCC, and associated sub-committees
