Job Description
Dispatcher routing WM’s residential, commercial, and roll-off waste-collection services. Resolving service issues, assigning drivers, and optimizing same-day and next-day routes.
Responsibilities:
- Dispatch drivers to calls based on customer needs, driver locations, loads, and daily factors
- Optimize routes with sites and the service department
- Determine daily driver staffing levels
- Assign routes and service tickets throughout the day and for the following day
- Manage route actions and ensure route completion
- Handle incoming calls and emails from customer service and sales
- Manage pickup and delivery requests for container movements within the market area
- Communicate with customers while drivers are on-site to resolve service delays
- Troubleshoot delivery and pickup problems before they become service issues
- Ensure same-day service on missed pickups by managing routing and tracking driver movement
- Communicate with WM drivers to resolve problems on residential, commercial, and roll-off routes
- Use WM proprietary software for same-day ticket routing and next-day route preparation
- Travel up to 15% may be required to work face-to-face with assigned sites
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- 6 months of relevant work experience in a team setting
- Ability to communicate effectively with several areas
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment
- Excellent organizational skills
- Bilingual French and English required for Quebec applicants
- Dispatching experience preferred
- Must have or be willing to obtain a REAL ID or TSA-approved alternative if required for air travel or federal property access
