Job Description

Actuarial Senior Analyst modeling ACO forecasts, reserves, and shared savings for Astrana Health’s value-based healthcare portfolio. Supporting P&L, M&A diligence, CMS strategy, and SOX reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and own actuarial models for forecasting, reserving, shared savings calculations, provider performance analysis, innovative clinical solutions analysis, and ACO performance optimization
  • Lead actuarial diligence on ACO targets, quantifying benchmark and savings impact to support corporate development strategy
  • Build analytics used to target and evaluate new provider groups
  • Own financial tracking and reporting for the company's ACO programs, including partial responsibility for a major line of business's P&L at a public company
  • Develop deep working knowledge of ACO REACH, MSSP, and LEAD programs
  • Analyze new and proposed CMS rules, develop organizational strategy, and help craft policy positions
  • Maintain, develop, and create ad hoc ACO audit documentation supporting a public company and SOX compliance
  • Partner with ACO, Analytics, Data, Finance, M&A, Contracting, Medical Economics, and Operations departments
  • Translate actuarial mechanics into actionable organizational decisions
  • Support diverse actuarial projects and requests as they arise
  • Report to the Senior Manager, Actuary

Requirements:

  • FSA or ASA credentials or near attainment of ASA credentials
  • 4+ years of experience in actuarial roles
  • 1+ years of experience in VBC or VBC adjacent roles
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Intermediate knowledge of SQL
  • Proficiency and desire to build actuarial models from scratch
  • Comfortable working on a small team in a fast-paced environment
  • Champion of independent critical thinking, unafraid to challenge the status quo and explore innovative solutions
  • Understanding of the actuarial continuum (both pricing/forecasting and valuation/reserving) preferred
  • Experience working with ACOs preferred
  • Experience producing public financial reports preferred
  • Experience working on the provider side of healthcare preferred
  • Experience with Databricks and/or Power BI preferred
