Job Description

HCSC Director & Actuary leading complex Medicare Part D actuarial teams, modeling, budgets, and strategy. Remote role serving HCSC’s health insurance business.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct highly complicated work teams of actuaries
  • Manage long-term complicated projects and work streams
  • Set or participate in setting strategy for success in the area
  • Ensure appropriate actuarial modeling and technical development of the team
  • Develop and drive strategy for tools, technology and resources
  • Monitor compliance with applicable requirements and Actuarial Standards of Practice
  • Communicate effectively across the company and with external parties
  • Prepare compelling written and oral presentations for senior leadership and high-level decision-making
  • Develop and improve key internal and external relationships
  • Apply expert-level understanding of complex actuarial concepts, multiple actuarial areas and one or more business segments
  • Track best practices and maintain broad applicable market knowledge
  • Manage and develop Directors and below; support effective team building
  • Drive continuous improvement resulting in administrative savings or recognized financial improvements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Economics; other Bachelor or higher degrees may be considered
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and Membership in the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA), with compliance with all membership requirements for each designation
  • In place of FSA attainment, 4 years of actuarial experience in the health insurance field at the ASA level may be substituted
  • At least 7 years of actuarial experience in the health insurance or related field
  • Verbal and written communication skills for documentation, training and development, and presentations
  • PC proficiency including Word and Excel
  • Experience overseeing annual budgets and allocating resources
  • Ability to translate needs and initiatives into compelling business cases
  • Ability to conduct cost-benefit analyses and ensure ROI
  • Must live within the continental United States, excluding Alaska, California, Hawaii or New York
  • Sponsorship is not available
