Job Description
Senior Cloud Engineer managing AWS infrastructure and enterprise platforms for GDIT, a government technology and professional services company. Supporting secure healthcare data exchange and fraud prevention operations.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and support AWS cloud infrastructure and enterprise platforms powering data ingestion, analytics, and partner-facing applications
- Administer Windows Server, Active Directory, Amazon WorkSpaces, and secure file transfer services
- Collaborate with Data Analytics, Data Engineering, Security, and Web Development teams and external healthcare partners
- Provide infrastructure solutions and secure data exchange
- Remediate vulnerabilities and keep platforms current
- Automate recurring operational work using AI, serverless, infrastructure as code, and other technologies
- Administer and automate resilient, high-performing systems
- Support the mission of the Healthcare Fraud Prevention Partnership Trusted Third Party in fighting fraud, waste, and abuse
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3+ years of related experience focused on cloud engineering
- Hands-on experience administering and supporting core AWS services in production, including EC2, ECS, S3, Route 53, VPC, IAM, Elastic Load Balancing, RDS, and CloudWatch
- Foundational networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, SSH/SFTP, and firewall concepts
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code using AWS CloudFormation or similar automation frameworks
- Experience administering or supporting Linux and Windows operating systems in enterprise or production environments
- Proficiency with Python, Bash, PowerShell, or other applicable languages
- Experience administering enterprise applications hosted on cloud infrastructure, including upgrades, patching, troubleshooting, and availability management
- Experience administering or supporting Active Directory, including user and group management, group policy, and integration with applications and multi-factor authentication services
- Experience with vulnerability and patch management
- Experience in a 24/7 production environment, including ticket-based operational support, incident response, root-cause analysis, and change management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate), AWS Certified SysOps Administrator (Associate), or comparable cloud certifications
- Experience administering commercial off-the-shelf software
- Experience administering Amazon WorkSpaces and endpoint protection tools
- Experience with multi-account AWS environments, AWS Organizations, service control policies, and centralized governance models
- Experience with cloud security and compliance frameworks, including NIST, CIS benchmarks, FedRAMP, or FISMA
- Experience maintaining STIG-hardened machine images and automated image build pipelines
- Familiarity with AWS Systems Manager, PDQ Deploy, or comparable platforms
- Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude Code or Amazon Q Developer
- US citizenship is not required
- No clearance is required
