Job Description

Senior Content Engineer designing scalable XML/DITA content models, metadata, and workflows for College Board’s education platforms. Leading content architecture across Drupal, XDocs, print, digital, and AI-ready experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and document structured content models and metadata frameworks for scalable content creation, reuse, maintainability, author workflows, and editorial governance
  • Provide technical leadership to engineering partners on consuming, rendering, and scaling structured content across new UIs
  • Coach team members on content APIs and prototype solutions aligned with front-end needs
  • Integrate content consistently across print and digital workflows
  • Improve modeling, tagging, and delivery of complex content for a unified user experience
  • Contribute to long-term content architecture strategy for the Authentic Work Platform
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, product teams, and cross-functional partners
  • Design content systems balancing author usability with machine readability and flexible front-end rendering
  • Lead content migrations, governance improvements, and large-scale model redesigns
  • Collaborate on reusable components, content validation, and API integration
  • Apply content architecture to personalization, AI-readiness, search, and findability

Requirements:

  • 4–6 years of experience designing structured content or data models and workflows for digital products
  • Expertise in structured content systems such as XML/DITA
  • Experience in production-scale, user-facing environments
  • Familiarity with enterprise content management systems such as Drupal and XDocs
  • Experience with authoring workflows and metadata structures
  • Ability to read and debug delivery APIs
  • Scripting transformation experience
  • Ability to analyze markup and metadata for modeling decisions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Systems-thinking and architectural approach to scalable, maintainable, reusable content design
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills across cross-functional teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 4–6 years of experience with structured content systems, or equivalent experience in a content engineering role
  • Ability to travel 3–5 times per year to College Board offices or on College Board business
  • Authorization to work in the United States

  • Ability to learn and apply new digital tools independently and proactively
