Job Description
Senior Grants Financial Specialist at Compassion International managing U.S. and other government grants financial oversight. Ensuring compliance and efficiency in financial management of donor-funded projects.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the financial management and compliance of highly complex grants from U.S. and other government agencies and multilateral donors
- Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- Act as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children
- Develop budgets and budget narrative packages for government and multilateral donor-funded projects
- Negotiate the program resources with donors
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to institutional and multilateral donors
- Prepare and review financial reports, budgets vs actuals, expenditures projections
- Collaborate with global program and national offices to develop budget forecasts and monitor financial performance
- Coordinate with external auditors during donor audits and assist in the preparation of audit schedules
- Monitor donor-funded projects to identify and address any financial discrepancies or compliance issues
- Provide training and support to program staff on financial management
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 7–10 years of progressive experience in grant finance, accounting, or donor-funded project management
- Demonstrated expertise managing U.S. Government grants and cooperative agreements; experience with multilateral and international donor funding preferred
- Experience developing and managing large, complex grant budgets ($30M–$70M+)
- Strong knowledge of 2 CFR 200 (Uniform Guidance), FAR, Single Audit requirements, and donor compliance regulations
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, audit support, compliance monitoring, and grant closeout
- Prior experience providing leadership, mentoring, or oversight to finance professionals and project teams
- Humanitarian assistance, emergency response, or HEA experience preferred
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent English language skills; Spanish or French language proficiency is a plus
