Job Description
Senior Java Consultant designing APIs and backend services for clients at Wavestone. Collaborating on technical solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and modern technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement APIs, databases, and backend services using Java, Spring Boot, OpenAPI, Kafka, Oracle PL/SQL, and PostgreSQL, following clean code and API-first principles
- Develop responsive, user-friendly web interfaces with Angular and TypeScript, aligned with modern UX/UI standards
- Automate deployment and testing pipelines using CI/CD tools such as Gradle, GitLab and OpenShift
- Actively participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical decision-making
- Collaborate with product owners, architects, QA, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Build professional relationships with clients, management, and team members to ensure successful delivery of proposed solutions
- Drive technical design decisions and question requirements when necessary
- Propose architectural improvements to enhance modularity, scalability, performance, and security
Requirements:
- Degree in Informatics, Business Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field, providing a solid foundation in technology and digital transformation
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in backend and full‑stack development (Java and Spring Boot), with a strong focus on clean code, architecture, and automated testing
- Proven experience building scalable web applications using Angular or React and TypeScript
- Strong expertise in cloud-native development with hands-on experience on AWS and/or Azure
- Solid background in containerization and CI/CD pipelines, supporting both on-premises and cloud-based projects from inception
- Customer-oriented mindset, ensuring technical solutions align with business objectives and end-user needs
- Advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in business English and German are mandatory
- Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, AI-based code analysis, test generation, or documentation assistance) is a plus
