Job Description
Senior communications manager shaping Renew Home’s external voice across energy media, executives, and social channels. Advancing residential clean-energy and virtual power plant innovation.
Responsibilities:
- Build Renew Home's external voice across partner announcements, press releases, media events, podcasts, executive interviews, and social media
- Drive press coverage across energy trade media and tier-1 financial/business outlets
- Maintain existing media relationships
- Plan and execute partner announcements and press releases from first draft through coverage and corrections
- Build and run executive communications programs for the CEO and other executives
- Secure interviews, speaking slots, and podcast appearances
- Coach leadership and other spokespeople for external appearances
- Consolidate executive talking points and presentation outlines
- Define lanes for company voices and track and secure visibility opportunities
- Identify and develop additional company spokespeople and thought leadership opportunities
- Pursue podcasts and events that build Renew Home's authority in the energy and smart home space
- Own the strategy for the company's external social channels
- Lead communications strategy for significant company milestones and growth moments
- Develop and execute crisis communications plans and prepare company spokespeople
- Maintain a forward-looking and confident communications posture
- Align external communications with executive leadership and senior stakeholders
- Partner with go-to-market, product, policy, legal, and data teams
- Establish and meet measurable KPIs for external communications effectiveness
Requirements:
- 7+ years of communications experience, with meaningful energy-sector experience
- Strong existing relationships with energy trade press and tier-1 financial/business journalists
- Ability to speak to specific reporters and outlets, not just categories of coverage
- Strong B2B editorial mindset
- Experience helping an early-stage or high-growth company navigate major growth milestones and communicate externally
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and adapting quickly when approvals are delayed or plans change
- Exceptional writing and spokesperson skills
- Comfortable being coached and coaching others
- Demonstrated bias toward proactive storytelling with a clear eye for risk management
- Experience building a communications function and managing agency support
- Exceptional crisis communication skills, including rapid response, message development, and stakeholder management
- Ability to work closely with go-to-market, brand, product, policy, strategy, operations, and data analytics teams
- Team-builder with a collaborative, high-energy leadership style
- Good judgment and attention to detail in confidential and high-pressure situations
- Intellectual curiosity, self-motivation, resourcefulness, integrity, and enthusiasm for building something new
- Low ego and highly collaborative approach
- Experience working with remote, distributed teams across time zones
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future immigration sponsorship
