Job Description

Senior mobile vehicle inspector conducting expert inspections on dealer lots for Cox Automotive’s Manheim marketplace. Documenting vehicle condition, supporting inspectors, and strengthening client relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough vehicle condition inspections at an expert level
  • Locate, start, move, inspect, and safely return vehicles on dealer/client lots
  • Verify vehicle identification and accurately enter VIN, mileage, and sub-series information
  • Inspect vehicle equipment and options, documenting damage, missing, or inoperable items
  • Record exterior condition, including tires, frame, glass, panels, and mechanical components
  • Record interior condition, including seats, dashboard, and options
  • Perform basic mechanical checks on powertrain, drivetrain, and electrical components
  • Assist junior mobile inspectors with complex inspections and client relationships
  • Prepare and provide daily activity reports for management
  • Adapt daily appointments to ensure efficient dealer visits
  • Develop client knowledge within the territory and maintain proactive on-lot engagement
  • Leverage partner data and insights to maximize inspected-unit volume
  • Represent Cox Automotive as a brand ambassador and ensure client satisfaction
  • Collaborate with Wholesale Specialist teams, peers, Manheim workgroups, and auctions
  • Use Salesforce.com for reporting, lead input, and customer performance reviews
  • Understand and apply NAAA Frame/Structure Damage Policy
  • Work in a continuous improvement/Lean environment and promote Lean culture
  • Maintain production expectations
  • Follow safety and health procedures and participate in Safety Excellence activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • 5 years of any automotive-related experience required
  • 1 year of service with Manheim Inspections recommended
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record required
  • Reliable transportation required
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong technical aptitude
  • Detail-oriented
  • Experience navigating handheld and other documentation devices preferred
  • Ability to work independently with remote supervision
  • Ability to multitask, follow directions, and take instruction
  • Body, paint, and mechanical repair knowledge helpful
  • Familiarity with unibody and full-frame helpful
  • Ability to lift and hold at least 30 lbs. at waist level for an extended period
  • Ability to stand, walk, talk, and hear regularly
  • Ability to crouch, bend, and kneel frequently
  • Strength to lift hood or trunk
  • Near vision abilities to identify vehicle damage
  • Ability to identify exterior and interior colors
  • Ability to work in different lighting conditions
  • Physical ability and mental acuity to execute duties within required timeframes
  • Must clear a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship
  • No OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT, or visa sponsorship now or in future
