Job Description
Software Development Engineer improving performance, scalability, and reliability of CVS Health healthcare applications. Building performance tests and supporting cloud-based engineering practices.
Responsibilities:
- Support the adoption and evolution of performance engineering practices across applications and teams
- Design, develop, and execute performance tests to identify bottlenecks and performance risks
- Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams throughout the software development lifecycle
- Analyze test results and provide recommendations to improve application scalability, stability, and performance
- Develop and maintain performance testing scripts using industry-standard tools
- Monitor application performance and assist in identifying and resolving performance issues
- Support capacity planning, performance tuning, and root cause analysis activities
- Contribute to documentation of performance testing processes, standards, and best practices
- Stay current with performance engineering trends, tools, and technologies
Requirements:
- 4+ years of engineering experience, including performance testing or performance engineering
- 3+ years of experience with performance testing tools such as LoadRunner, JMeter, Gatling, or similar
- 2+ years of experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure and container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
- 2+ years of experience with programming or scripting languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript
- Experience using monitoring and observability tools such as AppDynamics, Dynatrace, New Relic, or Grafana
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Understanding of application architecture, databases, APIs, and network fundamentals
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Experience in healthcare IT or familiarity with healthcare applications and regulations such as HIPAA
- Experience supporting performance testing initiatives in complex enterprise environments
- Familiarity with modern performance engineering concepts, including observability and shift-left testing practices
- Ability to communicate technical findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience working in Agile development environments
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)
