Job Description

Software Engineer building Wealth Wizards’ SaaS platform for accessible financial advice. Owning design, development, testing, deployment, and operation of UK-based remote services.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the full software lifecycle, including system design, coding, automated testing, deployment, and production operation
  • Assist in successful software delivery for the team
  • Work closely with the Lead Software Engineer and Product Manager
  • Partner with team members to deliver commitments
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and apply Agile delivery principles
  • Build, support, and maintain continuously delivered production products
  • Design, implement, and document clean, maintainable, and scalable code following SOLID principles
  • Refactor and extend existing codebases while maintaining high test coverage and long-term reliability
  • Participate in task analysis, design meetings, technical discussions, and code reviews
  • Design and implement APIs, backend services, and frontend applications using TypeScript, React, Node.js, and IaC
  • Contribute to coding standards and engineering principles
  • Analyze and plan solutions for non-trivial situations
  • Ensure security, reliability, scalability, maintainability, and accessibility of delivered software
  • Follow information security policies and procedures
  • Monitor production services and use telemetry and metrics to triage operational tasks
  • Continuously learn new technologies, frameworks, and libraries
  • Participate in regular 1-1s, coaching, and career development activities

Requirements:

  • Experience with frontend and backend development using Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, and React
  • Experience developing backend REST APIs
  • Experience working with relational or NoSQL databases
  • Knowledge of data structures and data-driven design
  • Experience with modern web frameworks and libraries, such as React Router and Express
  • Proficiency using agentic coding assistants and reviewing AI-generated code
  • Exposure to event-driven architecture and messaging systems
  • Experience with GitLab or GitHub repositories
  • Experience with unit and integration testing
  • Ability to identify and mitigate OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices and secure architecture patterns
  • Experience refactoring systems toward cleaner architecture using abstraction and facades
  • Ability to review non-trivial merge requests and provide feedback
  • Experience working as a software engineer in a team environment and openness to pair programming
  • Understanding of Agile principles and ability to refine user stories into tasks through delivery
  • Understanding of telemetry and metrics for operational triage
  • Up-to-date knowledge of modern development and operations practices
  • Commitment to self-learning and skill development
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Desirable: exposure to serverless or microservice architecture and infrastructure as code, preferably AWS
  • Desirable: contributions to FOSS projects or technical articles
  • Desirable: accessibility best practices
  • Desirable: understanding of financial regulations
  • Desirable: Terraform or SST
  • Desirable: Agile estimating techniques
